Francisco Orts Llorca was born in Tampico, Mexico in 1905 to a Spanish family. His father was a sailor and his family moved to Benidorm, Spain when he was three years old. He graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Valencia in 1928 and obtained the chair of anatomy at the University of CÃdiz in 1935. During the Spanish Civil War, he took refuge in the Republican area and was attached to the University of Valencia. He was a disciple of Henri RouviÃre in Paris, Alfred Fischel in Vienna, Walter Vogt in Munich and Pedro Ara in Madrid. His international travels before the Civil War were funded by the Board for the Expansion of Scientific Studies and Research (Junta para AmpliaciÃn de Estudios e Investigaciones CientÃficas), who also built him an experimental embryology laboratory.
He was appointed Professor of Anatomy at the University of Madrid and became one of the pioneers of the new vision of anatomy inspired by Hermann Braus in Spain. He also introduced experimental embryology in the country and made significant contributions to the development of the heart. He received several honors and awards, such as Doctor honoris causa from the National University of CÃrdoba (Argentina) and the University of Barcelona, Cross of St. George (1987) and Cross of Merit at Work (1976). He died in Madrid in 1993.
AnatomÃa humana is considered his most famous work and a milestone in Spanish medical literature. It covers all aspects of human anatomy, from the locomotor system to the nervous system and the viscera. It is based on rigorous scientific research and incorporates clear illustrations and diagrams. It also reflects his interest in embryology and physiology, as well as his humanistic vision of medicine. It is a testament to his dedication and passion for anatomy and his contribution to the advancement of medical knowledge.AnatomÃa humana has been praised for its clarity, accuracy and comprehensiveness by many medical experts and students. It has been described as a classic of anatomy and a reference for generations of doctors. It has also been translated into several languages, such as English, French, Italian and Portuguese.
However, some critics have pointed out some limitations and drawbacks of the book. For example, some have argued that it is too descriptive and lacks a functional and clinical approach. Some have also noted that it is outdated and does not reflect the latest advances and discoveries in anatomy and related fields. Some have also suggested that it is too long and dense and that it could be simplified and condensed.
Despite these criticisms, AnatomÃa humana remains a valuable and influential work in the history of anatomy and medicine. It is a tribute to the life and career of Francisco Orts Llorca, who dedicated himself to the study and teaching of anatomy with rigor and enthusiasm. It is also a source of inspiration and knowledge for anyone interested in the structure and function of the human body. 29c81ba772
