How to Change Your Computer SID and Name with SIDCHG
If you have cloned a Windows system, you may need to change its computer SID (Security Identifier) and name to avoid conflicts with other systems on the network. A computer SID is a unique identifier that Windows uses to manage access and permissions. Changing the computer SID and name can also help you customize your system and make it more secure.
One way to change your computer SID and name is to use a command-line utility called SIDCHG (SIDCHG64 on 64-bit Windows). This utility can modify the local computer SID and name, as well as other related settings, such as the WSUS ID for Windows Updates, the Device Identifier for modern Windows apps, the MSDTC CID, the Machine GUID, the Machine ID, the Dhcpv6 DUID, the SQL Server Master database, and the encryption state. It can also reset OneDrive if needed.
SIDCHG is a free tool that you can download from Stratesave Systems. There is no installation program. You just need to run it from a command prompt with administrator privileges. You can also use it to change the SID and name of a non-running Windows system on a specified drive.

If you are satisfied with your command line, press Enter to start SIDCHG.
Wait for SIDCHG to finish its work. It may take several minutes depending on your system configuration.
When SIDCHG is done, it will display a summary of what it changed and ask you to reboot or shutdown your system. You can also use the /R: or /S: options to automate this step.
After rebooting or starting your system, check if everything is working as expected. You may need to reenter some passwords or reconfigure some applications or services.
